THE PART THE CHART CAN'T SHOW

How much currency exposure belongs in your plan depends on where you spend, where your income comes from and how you are taxed in two countries. That is a conversation, not a calculator — and Gary Korolev, CFA, will have it with you personally.

This illustration uses European Central Bank monthly average reference exchange rates, with U.S. dollar rates for the pound, Canadian dollar, Mexican peso and Swiss franc derived from the euro reference rates, from January 2000 through the most recent month shown. Amounts are nominal: they do not reflect inflation in either country, investment returns, taxes, fees, or the cost of converting or hedging currency. Holding part of income at a fixed local-currency value is a simplification. The illustration is hypothetical, provided for educational purposes only, and does not represent any Sovereign Wealth Management strategy, account or client result. Exchange rates can move significantly in either direction, and past movements do not predict future ones. This is not investment, tax or legal advice; please consult your advisor regarding your own circumstances.
