About the Broadcast

The broadcast, part of RTVI's U.S. news show Dezhurny po Amerike (“On Duty in America”), hosted by Diana Lesnichaya, opened with the slide in bank stocks after the failures of SVB and Signature Bank. The program also covered other U.S. news of the day.

The same week, Gary told RIA Novosti that the SVB collapse was unlikely to turn into a systemic crisis, noting that regulators have had playbooks for such situations since 2008 and that the market reaction in the largest banks did not point to a broader threat. In May 2023, after First Republic Bank failed, he cautioned that pressure on regional banks was likely to continue.

The interview is in Russian. Views reflect market conditions on the broadcast date and may have changed since.
